Most English-language coverage of Korea either arrives late or skips the details that matter to someone who isn't there: where something is actually available, what it costs, which dates are confirmed and which are rumors. We try to fill that gap.


Posts are written by a Korea-based editor working from Korean-language sources, official announcements, and first-party schedules, then written for an international reader. When something is unconfirmed, we say so.

You've probably run into both names while researching this trip: T-money, and K-Pass. Only one of them is built for a visitor, and it isn't the one getting more headlines in Korea this month. K-Pass isn't a card you buy at a kiosk. It's a national refund program, and Korean bank pages describing it spell out the mechanics: ride public transit 15 or more times in a calendar month and you get 20% of your fares back the following month, rising to 30% for people 19–34 and 53% for low-income riders, capped at 60 trips. Incheon Airport to Seoul After Midnight: Night Bus or Taxi?

If you're working out how to get from Incheon Airport to Seoul after midnight, one fact settles most of it: the last AREX express toward Seoul leaves Terminal 1 at 22:48, and the all-stop train isn't far behind it. After that you have a night bus for ₩17,000–18,000 (about $13) or a taxi that starts near ₩70,000 (about $52) and climbs from there. I went through the airport's own pages and the AREX timetable on Sept 8 to pin the times and fares below. Prices in dollars use the Sept 7 rate of roughly ₩1,345 to the dollar, so round accordingly if you're reading this months later. Chuseok 2026 Seoul: Currency Exchange Closes — Get Won by Sept 23

Chuseok 2026 runs Thursday, September 24 through Saturday, September 26, according to the official Visit Korea site . This year there's no substitute Monday tacked on, since none of the three dates falls on a Sunday. The 27th is already a Sunday, so the real dead zone for a visitor is four days, Thursday to Sunday. If your trip lands anywhere in that window, the closures that matter aren't the ones you'd expect. Everyone plans around "will the palace be open." Almost nobody plans around "will a bank actually give me cash," and that's the one that catches people out.
